Chopin was 19 when he wrote his trio op. 8 in G minor and it was highly praised during his lifetime. Robert Schumann, for example, admired it very much. All the more remarkable that it is so little known today and rarely heard in public.
We want to change this and have therefore included it, together with a trio by Mozart and Debussy's only trio (a piece also dating from his younger days), to create an exciting and fascinating programme. Saint-Saëns' first trio also fits beautifully with Chopin's earlier work.
